Saturday at Bazar Bizar.

It was a very rainy day at Bazar Bizar on Saturday so that kept the people from coming during the first few hours, which was a shame. But later in the afternoon people started popping around and it ended up being quite a successful day. The organizers did a very good job of keeping us topped up with warm tea and kind words and the visitors and participants had plenty of flattering comments about my work. Special thanks to those friends who made the extra effort to bike in the rain (Ljubo and Jannetje were dripping when they arrived...). And of course thanks to those friends who came after the rain, your support is very important to me! Tripple special thanks to Sandra who sat with me through the whole day and even did a little dance in front of the stall to keep me happy.

Butternut squash and spinach salad.

The following day I had loads of ingredients left over and just by coincidence I found this delicious recipe on the Catalan television website (only for Catalan speakers): http://www.tv3.cat/cuines/receptes/recepta_3931.htm

It was absolutely delicious! You serve the fresh spinach with caramelised butternut squash dice, butternut squash crispy chips (!), feta cheese (original recipe is with mozzarella, but feta worked very nicely), macadamia nuts, and dressing done with seedy mustard and olive oil. Wow! Super nice contrast of flavours!

For the caramelised b.s. you fry the b.s until golden, sprinkle some sugar on it and then add modena vinegar and let it cook for a while. For the b.n. chips it's very important to slice them very finely and fry them on very low heat so they don't go black. Sprinkle them on top of the salad for that crunchy texture. Mmmmm!

Butternut squash curry with carrot salad for Dre.

She brought these chocolate cupcakes for desert that were almost too much to handle. Orgasmicsuperstuffynaughtydelicious feeling!

For the curry I used:
Butternut squash
Cauliflower
Chickpeas from a tin and their liquid
Garlic
1 chili
Coriander
Curry paste
Water
Spinach leaves (don't put them in till the end)

Once the curry is done, you can serve it with rice and a dollop of yogurt on top sprinkled with coriander. And carrot salad (grated carrot, coriander, chili, lemon zest, lemon juice, olive oil). I bought a couple of naan bread(s) and it all tasted perfect with chilled beer.

It's a Jamie Oliver recipe.

I'm still getting the hang of my camera, as you can see.
